Vasarfia (Fair goods) 

When people went to a fair in Hungary, they were expected to bring back some present. If a boy brought one for a girl, it may well have been an expression of his love. 

Exhibitors, therefore, used to produce some goods with the express purpose of selling them as souvenirs from the fair, like heart-shaped gingerbread or similar sweets, like toy swords or soldier figures for little boys, dolls or flowers for girls.

The folk art expressing itself in the shapes and colours of gingerbread, sweets and other souvenir objects has inspired the design of our "Vasarfia” collection. Messages of love and good wishes cast in plexiglas or carved in wood can thus survive into the 21st century - or become objects of interior decoration.
